Mariah Carey Is Ready to Conquer Las Vegas — Again
Mariah Carey is getting ready to conquer the world yet again. The singer has had a rocky couple of years, but she's slowly been working her way toward a major comeback, which she rang in (quite literally) with a pitch-perfect New Year's Eve performance earlier this year. Now, Carey is taking the next step — heading back to Las Vegas to do another residency.
Carey's announcement came in through her Twitter account on Monday morning. "I’m thrilled to be returning to The Colosseum at Caesars Palace with a BRAND NEW residency, THE BUTTERFLY RETURNS, beginning July 5th! Fan Club presale starts Tue 5/1 before the public on sale this Friday at 10 am PT!"
Carey's second residency will be a short one. Her first residency, Mariah #1 to Infinity, ran from 2015 to 2017. According to the promo poster, The Butterfly Returns will only run for three months. Because of the limited run, her performance dates will likely sell out quickly; fans love them some Carey, and it's been a hot minute since she's been on tour here in the U.S.
This comes at a good time for Carey. It's been four years since she's released an album (her last album, Me. I Am Mariah...the Elusive Chanteuse was released in 2014), although she has released singles, like 2017's "I Don't." With an Instagram photo from last weekend showing Carey back in the studio, there's a chance she could be releasing some new music to coincide with her residency and help get her back on the map.
It's good to see Carey carrying on. After all her health scares and revelations, it's heartening to know she's putting all her energy into her music and is focused on rising back to the top.
