This week, the world learned Gwyneth Paltrow isn't afraid to cross some boundaries during an interview, so long as it's in pursuit of helping someone out for a good reason. In this case, the person Paltrow wanted to help was her mom, Blythe Danner, and the reason? Well, the reason might surprise you — in a good way, that is.

Danner was a guest earlier this week on her daughter's podcast, the Goop podcast. During their very candid chat, the conversation turned to the topic of the current state of Danner's romantic life. Paltrow helped turn the conversation by opening up the floor for Danner to talk about how she spends her days and how she nurtures different kinds of relationships in her life.

"From my standpoint, you’ve had this amazing life, not that it’s always been easy. But you have these wonderful friends and children that love you and grandchildren that adore you. You’ve had this incredible career. I just wonder, are there still things you really want to accomplish?" Paltrow asked her mother.

Danner replied, "You know, I’m happy to say that I really like my own company and I’ve become a bit of hermit, which I need to be careful of." That hermitlike lifestyle Danner is referencing might be the result of her husband of 33 years, Bruce Paltrow, dying in 2002. Since then, Danner's romantic life has tapered off. With no serious love interests over the last 16 years that we know of, Danner seems quite comfortable with her single status.

When Paltrow asked her mom if she wanted a boyfriend, Danner didn't sound eager to rush back into the dating scene. Even with Paltrow cajoling her to sign up for Tinder or JDate, it was a nonstarter. "No. I have no interest. Really I don’t. If I got my heart broken, I’d probably jump off the railing. And I don’t want to be bored, so it’s one or the other."

Paltrow then took the very forward-thinking approach, offering to buy a very fun gift off the Goop website for her mom: "I can also go to goop.com and get you a vibrator," she suggested. Paltrow didn't specify which vibrator she would get her mom, but we're thinking it might be the 24-karat-gold Inez vibrator from Lelo, which comes highly recommended by Goop.

Even though Danner rebuffed her daughter's offer, we're kinda hoping she reconsiders. This offer may initially feel awkward coming from her daughter, but Danner's actually getting a once-in-a-lifetime chance to get her hands on some really good Goop-approved merch that most of us would kill for. So, Danner, rethink the offer. It's a really good one. We promise.
