Scarlett Johansson's New Look Is So Dark, Sexy & Fierce
Scarlett Johansson consistently gives us hair envy, and the new 'do she's rockin' is the latest proof. Although her signature shade is blond, Johansson stepped out at the Los Angeles premiere of Avengers: Infinity War earlier this week sporting a decidedly darker pixie cut. Johansson looks so fierce, and predictably, we're already scrambling to book a salon visit to copy her new look.
Wearing a strapless gown that somehow changed color from a shimmering silver to a soft lavender depending on the angle, some bold, smoky purple eye makeup and an understated choker, Johansson let her new style steal the spotlight at the premiere. We don't blame her! The contrast of the color makes her blue eyes pop, and it suits her complexion beautifully.
Of course, that could have something to do with the fact that Johansson's natural hair hue is closer to this new color than the bright blonds she's favored in recent years. If we go back in time to her 1998 breakout role in The Horse Whisperer with Robert Redford, Johansson rocked the role with brunette tresses.
She went light for 2002's Eight Legged Freaks and hasn't shied away from any color or cut since. You name a hue, and chances are Johansson has tried it: red, platinum, light brown, dark brown, rose gold. You've gotta give the girl props for being fearless when it comes to her hair. According to Lorri Goddard-Clark, a colorist at Los Angeles' Privé salon who often works with the actor, the key is confidence — "she just owns whatever stage she's in."
If only we could all be so bold, right? However, hairstylist Hallie Bowman underscored to InStyle that there's a specific reason Johansson can pull off such a wide spectrum of shades. "She has fair skin, with a neutral, tan tone, which means she can wear any color," Bowman revealed. Let's be honest. That sounds a little bit like, "Don't try this at home, kids."
Johansson may have tried nearly every hair color under the sun, but we really hope this new color is here to stay because it really, really suits her.
