Kourtney Kardashian Steps Into the Political Arena

Kourtney Kardashian is mixing her business acumen with politics in order to help reform one of the industries she has put so much of her time and effort into: the cosmetics industry. According to E! News, Kardashian joined Environmental Working Group President Ken Cook to speak about the importance and critical need to update the United States’ cosmetics legislation.

NBC Washington reporter Jennifer Vasquez tweeted, “[Kardashian is] meeting with lawmakers to update an 80-year-old FDA law to help make beauty products safer,” and “[She] says that as a mom it’s important for her to know what’s in the personal care products she uses. She’s calling for new legislation that will give cosmetics companies a guideline of how much of a certain chemical they can use.”

Kardashian’s statements were part of a meeting between the Senate staffers working with the Environmental Working group and Congressional leaders about the Personal Care Products Safety Act, which was introduced in May 2017. The Act seeks to protect consumers by giving the FDA greater authority to regulate cosmetics and personal care product ingredients.

It’s no surprise Kardashian is invested in getting this important legislation passed. She’s long been vocal about her lifestyle, eating and living as organically and naturally as possible, habits she is passing on to her own children.

But she’s not just a concerned mom. She’s also an industry insider. She recently released a collaboration with her half-sister, Kylie Jenner, for Jenner’s cosmetics line, Kylie Cosmetics.

Kardashian’s Capital Hill outing didn’t go unnoticed by her fans. Vasquez also reported via Twitter that after the meeting was over, Kardashian met with staffers and took photos with them.

Hopefully, this isn’t the last we’ll see of Kardashian in a political arena; it’s a good look for her.
