Seal is now the latest star to be accused of sexual battery, and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department told TMZ he’s under investigation for the incident, which happened in his home in 2016. Actor Tracey Birdsall reportedly filed the complaint.
Birdsall told TMZ she and Seal were neighbors at the time and became close friends while they lived near each other. But she said one day, when she was in Seal’s kitchen getting the salad spinner she had lent him previously, he “lunged” at her.
She claims she asked him what he was doing, and he replied, “I’m kissing you!” She says he then told her that because of what she was wearing (a tank top and shorts) she was “asking for it,” and tried to grope her breasts until she demanded that he stop. “In shock,” Birdsall then sat down on the couch with Seal, where she says he groped her again. She then left and claims she has had no contact with him since.
Birdsall told TMZ she saw comments Seal made on Instagram about Oprah and the #MeToo movement, and that pushed her to come forward with her story. Ironically, Seal also posted a follow-up video to his Instagram, encouraging women to come forward and tell their stories.
Police told TMZ they took a report on Saturday, and Seal is now under investigation.
A rep for Seal told TMZ in a statement, “Seal vehemently denies the recent allegations made against him by a former neighbor for alleged misconduct more than a year ago. He intends to vigorously defend himself against these false allegations.”
