Pink Is Still Optimistic About President Trump
Looking at the news these days, it's really hard not to feel hopeless. Natural disasters, mass shootings, terrorism and divisive politics that dominate the headlines would get anyone down. Well, almost anyone.
There's still at least one person who is, somehow, feeling hopeful about American politics: Pink. She tweeted about her hope that President Donald Trump can still change.
"I've seen people change and turn their lives around. There's still hope for you @POTUS. It's what the world needs," she wrote.
Pink's tweet comes at a time when Trump is facing an awful lot of criticism. Just hours before her tweet, Trump confirmed that he will be the first sitting president ever to speak at an anti-LGBT summit. Earlier this morning, he threatened to cut off aid to hurricane-ravaged Puerto Rico, where more than 80 percent of residents are still without power, food and clean water. And that threat came just weeks after Trump promised to continue aiding Southern states for as long as it takes them to recover from the hurricane destructions, which shows a real disparity in how he treats the American citizens that live in Puerto Rico versus the continental U.S.
Pink's followers dragged her for the tweet, calling her racist and saying she must have voted for Trump in 2016. She fired back, calling the trolls "shitty and snarky."
She also backpedaled on her previous tweet, saying she was not endorsing Trump.
Whether or not Pink intended her tweet to be supportive of the president, that's how Twitter is taking it.
