Still mourning Anna Faris and Chris Pratt’s split? Convinced love is dead? Well, we’ve got the perfect antidote for your jaded heart — Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick just celebrated their 29th anniversary by sharing the sweetest throwback photos.
See, you guys? Love isn’t dead! The fact that Bacon and Sedgwick are still going strong after nearly three decades of marriage is proof that happily ever after can exist in Hollywood.
Let us present exhibits A, B and C so we can rest our case. First up, on Monday Bacon posted a photo of the couple in their younger years to Instagram, captioning it, “Happy day to my life love @kikkosedg #29years.”
He then shared a super-NYC-in-the-fall photo of himself and Sedgwick walking their late dogs, Tybalt and Jane. Bacon’s hashtag, #29yearsandcounting, said it all.
And, finally, Bacon shared a screenshot of a blissfully normal convo he and Sedgwick had shared about a carrot. It’s the little things, y’know?
If you really want to feel your frozen heart start to slowly thaw, though, consider for a moment the story of how Bacon and Sedgwick met in the first place.
During an appearance on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, Bacon revealed they actually met prior to the 1988 PBS adaptation of the play Lemon Sky — which is widely reputed to be their “meet-cute.” In fact, the two exchanged pleasantries for the first time during the ’70s.
Bacon had just performed in a play, after which he walked into a deli. In the deli was a little girl and her brother who had seen the matinee performance.
Upon recognizing Bacon, the brother told the little girl, “‘You liked that actor, go tell him you liked him.” As it turns out, says Bacon, “it was Kyra.” At the time, she was 12 years old and he was 19 years old, so the exchange naturally ended there.
However, when they met again on the set of Lemon Sky (when they were both in their 20s), it felt like fate. They married in 1988 and went on to have two children together: son Travis, 28, and daughter Sosie, 25.
