Beyoncé has already been raising money on her website for Hurricane Harvey relief in her hometown of Houston, Texas, for days now, but she’s not stopping there. It’s just been revealed that Queen Bey will join forces with a ton of other celebs for a relief telethon that will air on five major American networks.
ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC and CMT will all air live broadcasts of Hand in Hand: A Benefit for Hurricane Harvey Relief, which will also stream live on Facebook and Twitter. Beyoncé, George Clooney, Oprah Winfrey, Barbra Streisand and Reese Witherspoon are among the celebrities who will make appearances during the one-hour special. The broadcast will be based in Los Angeles, but will feature performances from stages in New York and Nashville according to The Hollywood Reporter. One of those performances will be from Texas native George Strait, whose San Antonio benefit concert will be happening at the same time as the broadcast.
Jamie Foxx, Karlie Kloss, Matt Lauer, Rob Lowe, Matthew McConaughey, Norah O’Donnell, Dennis Quaid, Julia Roberts, Kelly Rowland, Adam Sandler, Ryan Seacrest, Michael Strahan and Blake Shelton are already set to perform or appear, and more names have yet to be announced ahead of the Sept. 12 broadcast date. Obviously, this is going to be one of the most star-studded events in a long time. Hopefully, that will help convince people to donate, because Texas needs it.
Donations raised during Hand in Hand will go to the United Way of Greater Houston, Habitat for Humanity, Save the Children, Direct Relief, Feeding Texas and The Mayor’s Fund for Hurricane Harvey Relief. Viewers will be able to donate online, by phone and by text throughout the broadcast.
This is just another way that Hollywood is coming together for residents of Texas who are rebuilding their lives in Harvey’s wake. Stars like Leonardo DiCaprio, Kris Jenner, Kevin Hart, Sandra Bullock and others have already donated to relief efforts and encouraged their colleagues and fans to do the same.
