Recently, a ridiculous 100-tweet-long thread making the case for why Rachel should have ended up with Joey instead of Ross on Friends has gone viral and forced everyone who was alive in the ’90s to pick a side in an argument that doesn’t even matter, because anyone who says Rachel wasn’t meant to end up with Ross is unequivocally wrong.

Asked by Elle about the raging online debate, Aniston showed us all the light and told us all the truth so we can finally let this silly thing die already, OK?

“No! No, no,” she said when asked if she secretly wishes Rachel and Joey had ended up together. “They tried! I think there was a moment when Joey and Rachel got together that maybe it could happen, but it didn’t. It was Ross and Rachel all the way. I really believe that if there’s an afterworld of Friends, they’re still thriving. Don’t you? I just don’t think Joey and Rachel could have made it. I think it was more physical than emotional with them. They were friends with benefits, and they left it at that.”
