Neither Ian Somerhalder Nor Nikki Reed Could Stick to a Month of Silence
If it seems like just yesterday that celebrity power couple Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed announced their planned "one month of silence" following the birth of their first child, well, it practically was (less than two weeks ago, to be precise). Alas, it's safe to say it didn't take long for the pair to break that resolution — both Somerhalder and Reed surprised fans with social media posts this week.
Still, we're inclined to cut them some slack since the posts they made were so gosh-darn adorable.
On Monday, Aug. 21, Somerhalder headed to Instagram to gush about his wife and — bonus! — confirm they did indeed welcome their little girl, Bodhi Soleil, into the world.
"Just a quick note to you my beautiful wife. You are briefly napping on the other side of the room after being an amazing mom all night so you'll read this when you wake," he started the super-sweet caption, which was accompanied by Reed's Fit Pregnancy and Baby cover.
"Seeing these images reminds me of those amazing 9 months that you sacrificed your whole being to grow our little one," he continued. "The kindness, the beauty and organic nature of these photos makes me so very proud. You brought such fun and such power into our lives being pregnant but you literally brought the word sexy into pregnancy, we all see it. Thank you for being my partner in this life and thank you for inspiring not just me but all others who read, hear or see what your soul gives us."
For her part, Reed broke the couple's vow of "silence" by posting a funny picture on Instagram of Somerhalder wearing multiple pairs of glasses in preparation for Monday's Great American Eclipse.
"Honey you sure you can see through those?! The only way to watch the solar eclipse, brought to you by my husband, inventor of all things practical," Reed wrote.
And, hey, both posts are pretty cute and kinda make us happy Somerhalder and Reed broke their self-imposed silence. But, let's be real... if the very epitome of a granola couple can't break away from social media for more than a week, what hope is there for the rest of us?
