In Duggar News, Derick Dillard Is Now Bullying a Transgender Teen
Having just welcomed a new baby boy in early July, you might think Derick Dillard would have much more to focus on than hate-tweeting. Or that as a father, he would be filled with empathy toward children. Instead, Dillard has taken to social media to bully 16-year-old transgender TLC star Jazz Jennings.
Although the Duggars often court controversy, Dillard has attracted more than usual lately. Last week, fans took him to task for not doting on his wife, Jill (formerly Duggar) Dillard following the July C-section that brought their new son, Samuel, into the world.
Instead of keeping a low profile following that debacle, Dillard decided to target Jennings — and the TLC network — for producing the reality series, I Am Jazz.
"What an oxymoron... a 'reality' show which follows a non-reality. 'Transgender' is a myth. Gender is not fluid; it's ordained by God," Dillard wrote.
Of course, this isn't the first time the Duggar family has come under fire for pontificating about exclusion. The LGBTQ community in particular has been the source of many of the family's most toxic rants, but this may be the first time someone in the Duggar camp has openly singled out a teenager.
The internet was quick to point out how problematic such cyberbullying is — not to mention how hypocritical it is coming from the Duggar family, who (a) is profiting from the very network they say clashes with their personal beliefs and (b) contains a known pedophile and adulterer.
At the time this article was published, neither Jennings nor TLC have responded to Dillard's tweet.
