Demi Lovato Is Confident AF in New Instagram Photo With Empowering Message

When you’re sweating it out in the gym and don’t feel like you’re seeing results, it can be a total motivation killer. But hard work does pay off, and Demi Lovato just posted a photo to Instagram proving that good things come to those who hustle.

What is even more impressive than Lovato’s toned midriff, though, is the candid — and empowering — message accompanying the image.

“I rarely post pics with my belly button showing because I’m normally insecure about showing my full stomach but I’ve been working really hard and thanks to @d.leith and his yummy food with @lockhartandleith I’ve been seeing progress so I thought I’d post this cause I’m feeling myself right now!!” she explained.

Although Lovato often posts pics and video of her workouts, the star typically doesn’t post pictures of her stomach. What she does routinely share are messages encouraging her fans to have self-esteem and be body positive.

And while Lovato has always seemed to love her body no matter what shape or size it is, sharing the photo of her midsection proves she’s truly practicing what she preaches. The pic further promotes body positivity by showing what it looks like to celebrate yourself whenever confidence strikes. Or as Lovato puts it, when you’re feeling yourself.

The subtext, of course, is that you don’t have to wait until you look the way society says you should to celebrate yourself — you can do it any time you take a look in the mirror and think, “Damn, girl!”

This is an important message for Lovato to model given that the singer has been open in the past about her body-image struggles. In sharing her journey and insecurities along the way, she’s undoubtedly imprinting upon young fans how crucial it is to love yourself first and foremost.
