Updated July 17, 2017, 3:30 p.m. PT: Following the absolute firestorm of allegations against R. Kelly presented in a shocking in-depth article published by BuzzFeed on Monday, the R&B singer has finally released a statement commenting on the story.

Via TMZ, R. Kelly's rep has released the following statement: "Mr. Robert Kelly is both alarmed and disturbed by the recent revelations attributed to him. Mr. Kelly unequivocally denies such accusations and will work diligently and forcibly to pursue his accusers and clear his name."

The statement implies that R. Kelly will attempt to fight back against those making the allegations that he is mentally, physically or sexually harming a number of young women in his personal life. The story has become a viral sensation, and all signs point to the fact that this story is not going away anytime soon.

A stunning exposé by BuzzFeed has revealed what is described as R. Kelly's alleged sex cult, where witnesses say he holds multiple young women against their will.

The piece contains multiple detailed accounts of women who allegedly began sexual relationships with Kelly, who slowly began to control them — what they wore, what they ate, when they bathed, even when they used the bathroom. There are also audio recordings of Kelly allegedly telling a young woman repeatedly that he wants her to report to him daily the color of her panties and interviews with multiple former members of Kelly's inner circle confirming all of the ominous accounts of abuse and control.

"They said six women live in properties rented by Kelly in Chicago and the Atlanta suburbs, and he controls every aspect of their lives: dictating what they eat, how they dress, when they bathe, when they sleep, and how they engage in sexual encounters that he records," the BuzzFeed article reads.

According to BuzzFeed's investigation, police have been called to perform welfare checks on the women living in Kelly's rented properties multiple times, but they claim to be fine and ask not to be bothered, strengthening their families' beliefs that they've been brainwashed. Some of them have been promised career boosts, but Kelly does nothing to advance them professionally. It's a dark and twisted tale, and well worth a read.

With the story going viral today, Kelly has yet to address the allegations himself. But multiple families are speaking out and entering legal fights, attempting to get their daughters back from Kelly. Meanwhile, Kelly's lawyer, Linda Mensch, has spoken on his behalf.

"We can only wonder why folks would persist in defaming a great artist who loves his fans, works 24/7, and takes care of all of the people in his life," Mensch said. "He works hard to become the best person and artist he can be. It is interesting that stories and tales debunked many years ago turn up when his goal is to stop the violence; put down the guns; and embrace peace and love. I suppose that is the price of fame. Like all of us, Mr. Kelly deserves a personal life. Please respect that."
