Serena Williams May Not Return to Tennis as Soon as You Think
Serena Williams has an awful lot going on.
She recently got engaged to Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian and soon after accidentally announced her pregnancy on Snapchat. She's been continuing to train while she prepares for the birth of her first little one, and she's either planning a wedding or has already gotten secretly married, depending on who you ask. But there's one question that's at the forefront of every Williams sisters fan's mind: When is she getting back on the court?
Unfortunately, it may be a while. Although Williams previously told Vanity Fair that she planned to get back to playing competitively as early as January, that seems to have changed as she's gotten further along in her pregnancy.
"If you know me, you know that I have the most unrealistic goals," Williams told E News this week. "I'm having a baby in the fall, and I am talking about playing in January. That is ridiculous! But who knows? If it happens, great, but if it doesn't happen, it's not the end of the world. I am OK with that too. Big deal, I will just keep going until the next goal!"
She also squashed those secret wedding rumors in the same interview. "It hasn't happened yet, not that I am aware of," she joked. "No, we are still waiting. There was a bridal shower, and after the bridal comes the bachelorette [party], which is not gonna happen right now," she added, looking at her growing baby bump.
Regardless of when Williams gets hitched and gets back on the court, we're beyond excited for all these big new steps in her life. Who cares when she starts playing again as long as we have a baby Williams to distract us?!
