It’s been a hot minute since we last saw David star as the semi-fictionalized (but fully hilarious) version of himself in Curb. In fact, it’s been a hot six years. Like the rest of us, HBO must not have any chill about the much-heralded return — they announced Season 9’s premiere date with an impressive poster, which they revealed via tweet.

When the news first broke last June that the beloved series would be returning, David remarked, “In the immortal words of Julius Caesar, ‘I left, I did nothing, I returned.'” In a case of art imitating life (which is typically the case with Curb), those words were picked up and used as Season 9’s tag line.

David, who co-created Seinfeld, loosely uses his life as comedic fodder for the show. Much like Seinfeld, it centers on the quirky minutiae of everyday life and particularly with David’s often awkward interactions with other people.

And let’s be real. We can’t wait to see who gets under his skin first when Curb returns this fall.
