The wait is finally over — well, sort of. While we still have to chill a few more months to finally see the return of surly Larry David on screen, at least we now know the premiere date for Season 9 of Curb Your Enthusiasm. So go ahead and sync your Google calendar, because the long-awaited comeback officially occurs on Oct. 1.

It’s been a hot minute since we last saw David star as the semi-fictionalized (but fully hilarious) version of himself in Curb. In fact, it’s been a hot six years. With Season 8 having aired in 2011, the gap marks the longest between seasons of the network’s hit comedy. The first teaser for Season 9 promises a glorious return though. Check it out:

When the news first broke last June that the beloved series would be returning, David remarked, “In the immortal words of Julius Caesar, ‘I left, I did nothing, I returned.'” In a case of art imitating life (which is typically the case with Curb), those words were picked up and used as Season 9’s tag line.

David, who co-created Seinfeld, loosely uses his life as comedic fodder for the show. Much like Seinfeld, it centers on the quirky minutiae of everyday life and particularly with David’s often awkward interactions with other people.
And let’s be real. We can’t wait to see who gets under his skin first when Curb returns this fall.
