Hey, Good Wife fans — good news! Will Gardner, aka actor Josh Charles, may have left that show, but he’s obvi not done with TV. He’s headed straight to a new show, and one we’re honestly super-excited about.
Charles’ next role will be as Dr. Jerome Oziel, the controversial psychiatrist in the case of the Menendez siblings, who were famously convicted of killing their parents in 1996. It’s all part of Law & Order: SVU producer Dick Wolf’s new project: an anthology series on NBC called Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders.
In the real-life case, Oziel played a pivotal role in the brothers’ case and conviction. The eight-episode anthology will focus on the brothers’ backstory before they were sentenced to life in prison for the killings.
This is Charles’ first major role since he left The Good Wife in 2014, but he’s appeared since then on a number of shows, including Inside Amy Schumer, Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp, Masters of Sex, Drunk History and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.
Law & Order True Crime will also star Heather Graham as Charles’ character’s unstable mistress, Miles Gaston Villanueva and Gus Halper as the Menendez brothers, The Sopranos‘ Edie Falco as defense attorney Leslie Abramson, ER’s Anthony Edwards as judge Stanley Weisberg, Parenthood’s Sam Jaeger as Detective Les Zoeller, Law & Order: Criminal Intent’s Julianne Nicholson as defense lawyer Jill Lansing and Grey’s Anatomy‘s Elizabeth Reaser as deputy district attorney Pam Bozanich.
Law & Order True Crime premieres Tuesday, Sept. 26 at 10/9c on NBC.
