You see, Markle, Prince Harry’s girlfriend and maybe soon-to-be wife, was trying to do the honorable thing and let the bride shine on her big day.
As such, E! News has confirmed that Markle skipped the ceremony at St. Mark’s Church in England but joined in for the festivities at the reception. I mean, the reception’s the good part of any wedding anyhow. Especially when it’s a royal-type wedding and there’s all those long prayers to contend with.
“Right now Harry and Meghan are leaning towards not wanting to attract extra attention, especially on a day that’s not about them,” an insider told E! News of Markle and Prince Harry’s plans ahead of the ceremony. “It takes the pressure off.”
Meanwhile, Prince Harry went stag to the ceremony before meeting up with his lady later on in the evening.
While People reported that the majority of guests were shuttled from the church to the reception in Range Rovers, Prince Harry picked Markle up himself for the reception at the Middleton family home.
Prince Harry was far from the only royal in attendance at the ceremony. Prince William and Kate Middleton were there, of course, as was Princess Eugenie. Prince George was a page boy for the ceremony and Princess Charlotte served as a flower girl.
No doubt, Prince Harry and Markle got some great ideas from Pippa for their own ceremony. Though the couple has yet to announce an engagement, rumor has it that it won’t be long now.
