Prince Philip Is Having a Blast in Retirement So Far
You have to love the fact that the internet killed Prince Philip just last week and now he’s living his best life ever. It really is kind of amazing and it might make you a bit jealous to have such leisure time.
The royal, who will turn 96 next month, was spotted taking a carriage ride by the river at Windsor Castle. And no, he wasn’t a passenger, he was the boss in charge of zipping through the countryside. It was an early-morning jaunt before the Royal Windsor Horse Show.
Prince Philip also dressed rather spiffy, too. He donned his best khakis and paired it with a spring jacket and cap. He’s proving that retirement suits him well and it’s only the first week. Can you imagine how much bounce in his step he will have once he really settles into his private life?
Don’t forget, the public will still see Prince Philip at events that were scheduled prior to his retirement. His formal engagements will end in August and that’s when he will stop accepting any new events on his calendar.
The good news is that he's in great health and still very spry. He's going to be able to enjoy more time with his great-grandchildren and enjoy the outdoors. After serving the public and his royal duties for decades, it's wonderful that he is able to step back and make his personal hobbies a priority.
Don't make any assumptions about Queen Elizabeth, though. She has not made any formal plans for retirement, although she did ask Prince William and Princess Kate to step up their duties in 2017. It makes even more sense now that Prince Philip has decided to enjoy some time for himself and his badass carriage rides around the countryside.
