Maks Chmerkovskiy's Calf Injury Is Being a Real Buzzkill
Maksim Chmerkovskiy may be sidelined from Dancing with the Stars for now, but he's not giving up on his season.
On Instagram, Chmerkovskiy praised his dance partner, Heather Morris, and promised to be back on the dance floor with her as soon as possible.
What's keeping him out for the time being is a calf injury he sustained during practice on Friday. In a video clip of the accident aired on Good Morning America, he can be heard saying, "It’s my calf muscle. It just felt like something hit it," while holding his leg.
Chmerkovskiy was forced to sit out Monday's episode to rest up, and he still hasn't been cleared to return to rehearsals. But on Instagram, he vowed his fans would get a chance to see him again.
"I'm so proud of @heatherrelizabethh for getting it done in an amazing fashion! I'm sorry I couldn't be next to you, but I promise to work harder than ever and get my ass back to the ballroom as soon as humanly possible! HUGE (but not that huge) Thank You to @alanbersten for stepping in at the last second and doing a great job!" he wrote alongside the silly photo of himself and Morris during a dance. He added, "And finally, to all our fans... I've said in the beginning of the season that I was back because of how supportive you've always been to me and I promise that this isn't the last you've seen of me. I will make every effort to make you proud yet... In the mean time PLEASE VOTE FOR #teamMaksimumHeat !!!"
This is Chmerkovskiy's first season back since his son was born. He originally told fans he was going to take this season off to spend more time with the new baby, but later admitted he couldn't stay away from the dance competition show.
