What Talulah Riley’s Westworld promotion means for Season 2

Actress Talulah Riley has been made a series regular for Season 2 of Westworld, which gives some key clues about where the plot is headed in the next chapter.

Riley played a host in Season 1. She had a small but memorable role as the woman, Angela, who guided William into the park and then again, in the future timeline storyline, as a woman within the park.

Entertainment Weekly reports that in Season 2, Angela will be introduced more in-depth as a “host whose beatific face welcomed guests to Westworld for decades… Angela will prove to be one of the last faces many guests will ever see.”

This definitely seems to suggest Angela will become a willing participant in the massacre we saw at the end of last season. Her awakening will probably lead her to join Dolores’ cause, but to what end?

It also seems that perhaps we’ll get another season with two different timelines since the teaser mentions that Angela has been welcoming people to the park for decades. At what point did she go from greeting to plotting?

Angela definitely seems to have some insider information about the happenings within the park, which could be helpful to our newly murderous hosts if they are going to survive in Season 2.

There’s also the possibility that rather than moving the story forward in Season 2, the show might simply take us on the journey of the maze from another host’s point of view. I’m hoping this will be a B storyline, while storyline A advances the hosts’ impending war against humanity. But showrunners Chris Nolan and Lisa Joy could, theoretically, decide to wipe the slates clean by wiping the hosts’ memories, which would once again put us back at square one of the maze.

Season 2 of Westworld won’t be released until 2018, which means we’ve got plenty of time to ponder over Angela’s upcoming storyline and suffer until we get to see Westworld once again.

How do you think Angela will play a key role in Season 2?
