It looks like Supernatural‘s Sam and Dean are once again keeping each other in the loop — for now, that is.
During last Thursday’s episode, Sam joined the British Men of Letters, but did not let Dean in on his new hunting partners. That all changed during this week’s episode, when Sam finally confessed to his big brother that all of the cases they’ve been working the past couple of weeks have come directly from the BMOL, not a new computer program Dean thought Sam had implemented on his phone.
At first, Dean was understandably unhappy. But after listening to Sam explain why he thinks working with them is a good idea, Dean said OK. That’s right; Dean is now on board to work with his brother, his mom and the BMOL.
Say what now? That is definitely not how we expected Dean to react. He was surprisingly calm and did not freak out or storm out like we thought he would. As he told Sam, they work with people they don’t trust all the time (like Crowley), so why not give this a shot and see what happens? Yeah, that makes sense, but wow, Dean definitely pulled a fast one on us there. At least he and Sam aren’t going their separate ways, because that is something we don’t want to go through again.
Even though Dean is going to work with Mick and Mr. Ketch, that doesn’t mean he isn’t a little bit hesitant. He made it perfectly clear to Sam that not only does he not like this idea one bit, but that he also doesn’t trust them at all. He even said that if at any point in time “something feels off,” they will bail. Sam agreed 100 percent, but will their agreement last?
Sometimes Sam and Dean make a plan, but it doesn’t always go that way. We can see Dean wanting to get as far away from the BMOL as soon as they do something he isn’t OK with and Sam deciding to stick by their side.
As much as Sam doesn’t like them or trust them, he is far more open to the BMOL than Dean. Let’s just hope Sam and Dean stick with the plan and don’t let the BMOL get between them. And, you know, that Dean will be able to keep Sammy in line and convince him to do the right thing if need be. Why is it these two always find themselves in these positions?
As for Lucifer, he almost broke free of Crowley’s reign, but underestimated the King of Hell. Crowley doesn’t even need to keep Lucifer in chains because his vessel is his “true prison.” Crowley warded Lucifer’s vessel with runes and carved spell work from the cage into “every molecule.” So yeah, at this point in time, Crowley owns Lucifer and is “just getting started.”
Oh, and it seems that Castiel is contemplating getting back into the good graces of Heaven. An angel messenger met with Cas and told him that Joshua has the power to forgive and forget all of Cas’ sins so he can come back to Heaven. If he tracks down Kelly, who is carrying Lucifer’s child, Castiel would then be welcomed back into the fold to be with his “true family again.” Keep those fingers crossed that this isn’t some type of trick.
There’s a lot happening right now, and we have a feeling the chaos is only going to get more chaotic. Until then, let’s all take a moment to destress by reliving that scene where Dean used a bat that looked awfully similar to The Walking Dead‘s Negan’s (aka Jeffrey Dean Morgan who played Supernatural‘s John Winchester) and said, “Dad would love this thing.”
