My roommate has a complete scorched-earth policy when it comes to exes — she once broke up with a guy and then immediately quit her job without notice and moved across the continent. In most cases, I feel like that might be a tad extreme. In Jennifer Aniston’s case, it’s probably appropriate.
We’re all aware of poor Aniston’s relationship history. She had a five-year marriage to Brad Pitt that was straight out of a fairy tale, and then Angelina Jolie swooped onto the scene, co-starring with Pitt in Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Pitt pretty much immediately started cheating on Aniston with Jolie, who would later become his second ex-wife. Classy dude, huh?
But now that things have fallen apart with Jolie and she blindsided the world with divorce filings and accusations that Pitt abused their kids because she’s not here to play, Pitt is apparently on the hunt for a rebound. What’s worse is that he reportedly thinks he can find it by sliding into Aniston’s DMs.
Pitt didn’t even have Aniston’s number, but “tracked it down through a tangled web of contacts,” according to Elle. A source told Us Weekly he went to all the trouble just so he could make the mistake most of us grow out of around college: texting his ex.
“Brad has confided in Jen,” the insider said. “Brad told her he’s having a hard time with his split and they exchanged a few texts reminiscing about the past.”
Aniston, though, has fully moved on and is happily married to Justin Theroux, who, lesbihonest, is no downgrade from Pitt.
And their relationship must be rock solid, because that same source says Theroux knows about the texting and is totally down with it.
He’s “okay with them being friends,” the insider said. “[He knows] Jen just wants to be nice.”
