Fifth Harmony is about to become Fourth Harmony very soon because Camila Cabello is reportedly leaving the band.
The group took to Instagram on Sunday, Dec. 18 to share a statement on Cabello’s departure. It read: “After 4 and a half years of being together, we have been informed via her representatives that Camila has decided to leave Fifth Harmony. We wish her well.”
The statement continued, “You Harmonizers have been there with us since the beginning, you’ve supported us, and with your love and support, we will continue on.”
Of course, this doesn’t mean it’s the end for Fifth Harmony and the group’s remaining members, Ally Brooke, Normani Kordei, Dinah Jane and Lauren Jauregui, who revealed they’d be moving forward, adding, “We are four strong, committed women who will continue with Fifth Harmony as well as our solo endeavors.”
Cabello has yet to make her own statement, but it’s evident from the reaction to the group’s statement that her exit comes as a shock. Comments include one from im_hitomi08 who wrote, “Can’t stop crying but I swear I’ll continue to cheer both of 5H and Camila as a solo even if she decided to leave 5H.”
“Wondering why she didn’t tell them, and just a few days before Christmas, airazd commented — sentiments echoed by many, who seem to believe that Christmas is now ruined.
“I can’t stop crying this is not ok,” emily_bennett654 wrote, and aliseblila55 agreed, writing, “I can’t stop crying.”
However, not everyone is shocked by Cabello’s exit. Simply.kayla__ wrote, “Why the heck I knew it after doing all the songs with other artists.” And aye.its.ella commented with, “I saw this coming.”
However, this could be a very good move for Cabello’s career, as we’ve seen multiple times before with artists such as Zayn Malik, Beyoncé and Robbie Williams leaving groups to embark on solo careers and becoming huge successes.
