According to Griffin in a recent Access Hollywood interview, DeGeneres is furious with her for writing in her new book, Celebrity Run-Ins: My A-Z Index, that DeGeneres has “a mean streak that all of Hollywood knows about.”
DeGeneres was so upset about it, in fact, that the two hashed it out over the phone according to Griffin.
“I had mentioned on your show that I wish that women would support each other more, in particular super, super influential women,” Griffin explained. “I expressed that to her and she was like, ‘I don’t have to have anybody on my show I don’t like.'”
DeGeneres apparently responded by telling Griffin that she doesn’t hate her. But despite the seeming truce the two came to at the end of their phone call, Griffin still said she started sobbing when the two hung up the phone with one another.
“At the end of the day, whether we like each other or not, I’m always going to support a woman over 50 in the game and making a great living,” Griffin said.
It seems like maybe that statement came a little too late since her words about DeGeneres’ “mean streak” are printed for the world to see forever.
That’s not very supportive even if it’s true.
DeGeneres has yet to comment publicly on Griffin’s accusations, but the two have apparently had beef for a while now — since 2007.
“I know she had a big thing about wanting to be on the show, and we didn’t book her,” DeGeneres said in a past interview according to Huffington Post. “She did a whole thing that I banned her from the show. I didn’t ban her from the show, because first you have to be on the show to be banned.”
Do you believe the rumors that Ellen DeGeneres is actually a Hollywood mean girl?
