Kanye flew out to NYC to find a psychiatrist — and meet up with Trump?
Kanye West appears to be taking his health scare seriously, but he also clearly refuses to be housebound.
West is based in Los Angeles, but he spends a lot of time working in New York, and sources recently told TMZ that there was a very good reason for West's recent trip to the city on Monday, Dec. 12 — he was reportedly in search of a psychiatrist.
Last month, West found himself hospitalized for eight days at the UCLA Medical Center, and since his return home, he has been engaged in outpatient treatment. According to TMZ, sources connected to the artist told them that West went to Manhattan to interview various psychiatrists. He intends to choose one for when he's on the East Coast, and the psychiatrist will reportedly join his West Coast treatment team.
In addition to being proactive about finding help, West has reportedly been provided with extensive, almost around-the-clock care — he actually traveled to New York City in a private jet with members of his medical team.
Sources also told the publication that doctors are watching West closely and ensuring that he takes his medication.
While these reports all seem positive, there are still persistent rumors about the state of West's marriage to Kim Kardashian West, who is reportedly annoyed that he has chosen not to stay home. Last week, West visited the Rick Owens: Furniture exhibition at the MOCA Pacific Design Center, and while in New York City on Monday, he reportedly met with designers and an architect for the remodeling of his Hidden Hills estate in California. On Tuesday, Dec. 13, West reportedly met with President-elect Donald Trump at Trump Tower in New York City.
According to Business Insider, West and his entourage (including a videographer) walked into the lobby of Trump Towers around 9 a.m. ET.
Trump's spokesperson, Hope Hicks, confirmed to the publication that there was a meeting. Trump reportedly said that he and the rapper had "been friends for a long time," adding that they discussed life. According to West, though, they discussed "multicultural issues."
West has already had a busy week, and according to a People magazine source, it's really getting to his wife.
"Kanye is supposed to rest and focus on his mental health," the source said. "Instead, he has had a very busy week and is done resting." They continued, "Kim acts annoyed. She also seems miserable and is spending a lot of time with her family."
However, despite the reports about Kardashian West being annoyed with her husband, this does not mean that the pair has trouble in their marriage. Another source told the publication that reports of marital strife were "completely false."
