Selena Gomez left countless fans inspired when she made a surprise appearance at the American Music Awards on Sunday, Nov. 20 — the first public appearance since checking into rehab for depression — and while on stage she poured her heart out in an empowering speech… but that was just the beginning.
On Thursday, Nov. 24, Gomez took to Instagram to break her social media silence for the first time in 14 weeks, and she had a lot on her mind. Posting a black and white photo of herself surrounded by her fans, Gomez captioned the post with thoughts on what she had to be thankful for this year.
“My year has been the hardest yet most rewarding one yet,” she wrote, adding, “I’ve finally fought the fight of not ‘being enough’. I have only wanted to reflect the love you guys have given me for years and show how important it is to take care of YOU. By grace through faith. Kindness always wins. I love you guys. God bless.”
Fans have reacted to the message in the best way, with over 2.3 million likes and an overwhelming number of comments, it’s clear that fans are happy to have Gomez back on social media.
Comments include one from kayla_hoyos_, who wrote, “So proud of you Selena not because you have comeback to the spotlight but because you have RISED against so much in your life and you deserve the world!!! You have been nocked down in life but you got up off the ground and dusted yourself off.”
Selenascookiess shared similar sentiments, writing, “Hey, selena we love you so much. Even though the bad times, we are here for you and we will always supporting you…” While airiicoluccio wrote, “Omg sooo happy and proud of you.”
