Duck Dynasty has a big announcement to make, and fans won't like it
Brace yourself, Robertson fans, because Duck Dynasty is coming to an end.
The announcement came as part of Wednesday's premiere of Season 11, as the Robertsons revealed in a video uploaded to Facebook that it was a family decision to make this season their last.
In the video, Jase Robertson tells viewers, "After five years, we've decided… as a family for this to be the final chapter of the Duck Dynasty series." However, this new season is expected to be the best, at least according to Korie Robertson, who said, "This is going to be the best season yet and you might see us on a special or two."
Sadie Robertson also took to social media, sharing her thoughts on how the show has been an "amazing ride."
Twitter has been abuzz with reactions to the news, and it seems there are some mixed feelings about the show's cancellation.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the final season will run through Jan. 18 with a small break before seven final episodes are set to air from March 1 until April 12 — bringing the total to 130 episodes since the show's inception in 2012.
It's no secret that Duck Dynasty has enjoyed immense success — it broke ratings records for both A&E and cable — but it hasn't been without controversy. In 2013, Phil Robertson was temporarily suspended from the show for the anti-gay comments he made during an interview with GQ magazine, and according to Entertainment Weekly, the show's ratings never quite recovered.
