Jessica and Ashlee Simpson’s father, Joe Simpson, has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, People magazine reports.

Simpson’s rep told the publication that he was initially diagnosed two months ago and underwent prostate surgery, which doctors have said went well. These sentiments were echoed by an Us Weekly source, who told the mag, “The surgery went well.”

Joe is believed to be in recovery, and is already back at work and eating healthier. He’s been fortunate not to have to go through this alone, and has had unwavering love and support from those around him. A source told Us Weekly that his daughters have been “super-supportive.”
Another source close to Simpson told People magazine, “He’s feeling great now and is optimistic,” adding, “He’s felt so much love and support from his family and friends.”
