Thank God Dancing with the Stars has nothing to do with politics
Not gonna lie — I didn't want to watch Dancing with the Stars tonight.
With the national election just four hours away, my anxiety is at an all-time high. I really had no idea how I was supposed to watch a bunch of celebs prance around the dance floor with big, cheesy smiles on their faces when all I wanted was to watch CNN and stew over the fate of our planet.
That was only, like, half sarcastic. I'm tainted with drama from watching Dr. Strange last night, so you'll have to forgive me.
Let's just say that I'm really ready for tomorrow to come and go already, so Dancing with the Stars wasn't high on my list of priorities tonight, except, well, a girls gotta eat. So I plopped myself down with a glass of wine and my computer and found myself feeling surprisingly good. Not just because of the wine, people! I only had one glass, I swear. OK... like one and a half.
The point is that I needed some Dancing with the Stars in my life and didn't even know it. The music, the dancing and especially Idina Menzel's performance reminded me that all of these things will still exist on Wednesday no matter what happens in the election. (Unless Donald Trump decides to replace all reality TV with just The Apprentice and Miss USA pageants — then we're screwed. I kid, I kid. *Gulp*)
The only letdown? Derek Hough has left the competition. He and his star partner Marilu Henner were eliminated tonight, and while we pretty much all saw it coming, I'll still miss Hough in the Season 23 competition.
At least there's always next season! Just like there will always be another election. Thank God for democracy!
Which couple was your favorite tonight? Were you sad to see Marilu Henner and Derek Hough eliminated?
