Wow. Have you lifted your jaw off the floor yet? In its 33 seasons, Michaela Bradshaw’s elimination from Survivor: Millennials Vs. Gen-X may be one of the biggest, most surprising blindsides ever.
She didn’t hide her emotions and go out quietly, either. Her anger and disappointment erupted in the best Tribal Council stare down we’ve seen in a long time. As the votes tallied up against her, Michaela turned sharply with glaring eyes darted at Jay. “Did you do that?” she asked with a disgusted tone in her voice. Jay, with a villainous smirk on his face smugly retorted, “Yeah, I did it.”
Michaela didn’t even watch Jeff Probst snuff out her torch. Instead, her fiery eyes kept burning their stare at Jay who proudly glared back. “You just fucked up,” she said to Jay. “You’re going to feel like an asshole.” She then angrily smacked leaves away while storming out of Tribal Council forever.
Her ouster was a huge bummer for fans who saturated Twitter with their shock and disappointment.
Here’s my take. While I am selfishly sad that Michaela’s amazing personality has been booted out of the game, it was a smart play for Jay. Michaela is an outspoken force to be reckoned with, and she was clearly willing to do whatever possible to get herself the $1 million prize. With the merge looming, it was Jay’s best shot at taking out his biggest potential threat. As much as I hated to see her go, it did make for some amazing TV, right? I am surprised, though, that she didn’t reveal Jay’s secret Idol to the entire tribe while going out in her blaze of glory.
But don’t be too sad, Survivor fans. Rumor has it that Michaela is one of the returning castaways competing on Season 34, which begins airing in February.
