Would Kim Kardashian West really stage her own robbery? Let’s be real: The claim that Kardashian West and her team faked the terrifying ordeal in which she claims she was hog-tied and threatened with a gun seems pretty far-fetched. Still, multiple gossip outlets are intent on painting her as the perpetrator and not the victim.
In several posts over the past week — some of which are now deleted — Media Takeout reported that not only had Kardashian West staged the whole night to commit insurance fraud, but also that French authorities suspect that she had let the robbers in her hotel room herself, according to the Daily Mail.

In addition to Media Takeout‘s accusations against Kardashian West, Radar Online has also published a video they obtained of the aftermath of the jewel heist. In the video, Kardashian West appears fairly calm, which Radar says would not be the case if she had truly just been held at gunpoint. Radar also claims if Kardashian West’s wrists and ankles had really been bound with zip ties, she would have prevalent bruising — which isn’t present in their footage. Reps for Kardashian West told Radar that the footage was taken five hours after she was held hostage, so it’s not a fair representation of what her mindset was like directly after the robbery.
But would Kardashian West really go to such great lengths to commit insurance fraud? It may be true that the Kardashian family is known to stage a dramatic event or two to up the ante for their reality shows, but the accusation that they would actually come up with something this outrageous seems pretty audacious. Not to mention the fact that it’s horrible victim-blaming.
Kardashian West isn’t about to take the most likely fictitious reports sitting down. She has already fired off a lawsuit against Media Takeout for defamation, claiming the site ran the stories about her faking the robbery as truths without any credible sources to back them up.
“After having been the victim of a horrific and traumatic armed robbery in France, Kim Kardashian returned to the United States only to again be victimized, but this time by an online gossip tabloid,” Kardashian’s attorney, Marty Singer, wrote in lawsuit documents obtained by Gossip Cop. “Kardashian faked the robbery, lied about the violent assault, and then filed a fraudulent claim with her insurance company to bilk her carrier out of millions of dollars.
“Defendants must face the consequences for publishing this defamatory fiction and trying to profit off of Kardashian’s name,” Singer also says in the filing. “Kardashian has suffered general and special damages in an amount not presently known to her but believed to be not less than the jurisdictional minimum of this Court, including damage to Kardashian’s reputation and standing in the community, shame, mortification, hurt feelings, embarrassment, and humiliation.”
Sometimes celebs get a little sue happy, but we have to say, this lawsuit is one that seems totally justified.
