Chuck Pratt Jr. never had it easy as the head writer of The Young and the Restless. His style of writing left longtime soap fans frustrated because Pratt Jr. didn’t treat legacy characters with the honor they deserve and it often felt like he didn’t understand the history of the show.
Instead, Pratt Jr. disappointed viewers with Chloe’s lackluster return and turned poor Jack into a shell of a man. Social media complaints were heard far and wide during his tenure, but things certainly turned around this week when SheKnows Soaps confirmed on Tuesday that Pratt Jr. was out as head writer at Y&R.
Within a matter of hours the tweets took on a different tone — fans were rejoicing.
about freaking time, sorry excuse of a writer.

Pratt is moving on to primetime as the new showrunner and executive producer of Fox’s upcoming series, Star. Daytime Confidential is reporting that Sally Sussman Morina might return to Y&R as his replacement. If that happens, big changes are in store for the soap and she is the perfect person to get the show back on track.
Sussman Morina started her career under the tutelage of Y&R show creator William J. Bell. She knows the ins and outs of the beloved characters, particularly the Abbott and Newman families.
If anyone is going to get the Newman family back to their old selves again, it has to be Sussman Morina. She understands the histories of the characters and the expectations of soap fans.
CBS has not officially confirmed Pratt Jr.’s exit, but his new job has already started. That’s confirmation enough.
