And while we totally get that Spears would be nervous, we find it hard to believe the claims that she was “talking and laughing to herself and using a British accent,” a claim that InTouch magazine reportedly intends to publish. According to TMZ, it has obtained a “scathing letter” that Spears’ lawyer wrote to the publication, warning it to not publish the story, in which InTouch reportedly also claims that Spears was acting erratically during the awards show.
According to TMZ, the letter states that InTouch notified Spears’ lawyer, informing them that it would run the story — a story that Spears’ legal team insists is “utterly false, highly defamatory and completely offensive to Ms. Spears.”
TMZ also claims that a source closely connected to the singer told them that she and her team are so tired of reading “made-up” stories that they’re taking a stand. According to the gossip site, if the story runs, then Spears intends to sue with the hope that this will be the first of many lawsuits to finally put the vicious lies about her to rest.
TMZ claims it has reached out to InTouch for comment, but the magazine has yet to respond.
