Britney Spears may be hugely successful, and she has the financial means to ensure that she and her family are very comfortable, but that doesn’t mean she’s forgotten the plight of others, as she recently revealed on Twitter.
Spears has teamed up with Red Cross and a crowdfunding website to do her part in an effort to help raise money for those affected by the recent Louisiana floods (which devastated the East Baton Rouge Parish of Louisiana). Tweeting about the collaboration, she wrote, “I’ve teamed up with @RedCross and @crowdrise to raise funds for the victims of the horrible flooding in my home state of Louisiana.”

Spears also took to Facebook to thank fans for their support, and revealed that every person who donates $10 will be in with a chance of winning either her VMA outfit (which she’ll wear during her performance at the awards show) or a trip to the MTV VMAs, including round-trip airfare for two to New York City.

It’s a beautiful initiative that has thus far raised $30,750 (still counting), and fans are glad to see that Spears is doing something good for the community.
“Thank you britney spears for the time spent in the campaign,” Abraham Omorenimwen Oboruemuh wrote.
“Just donated! Thanks for doing something good for the community!” Derek Lupien-Wescoe commented. Dillan Gay agreed, writing, “You are so sweet to help your home state, girl! This is why people love you. You are truly a selfless pop star.”
Michael DeSorbo was also quick to gush about how selfless Spears is. He wrote, “We are glad to do it.. you’re an inspiration, selfless and humble! Amazing inside and out.”
If you want to help the victims of the Louisiana floods, there are still eight days to enter Spears’ competition. Or if you’re not interested in meeting her or possibly wearing the same outfit she’s worn, then there are plenty of other ways to do your part, including making a donation to The United Way of Southeast Louisiana, Baton Rouge Area Foundation and Convoy of Hope.
