Dancing with the Stars fans may have a whole new caliber of contestants to look forward to — Olympic athletes. According to Us Weekly, producers are hoping to sign Olympians to the next season after the Rio 2016 Games end. The first name on their list? Simone Biles.
“They would love to cast some Olympians if possible,” says an insider. The source claims that the team waited for the Games to begin to see who the breakout stars would be. It’s no surprise that they set their sights on Biles, who captured five gold medals.
Biles hasn’t just caught the eyes of TV producers. She’s also got Zac Efron and Brazilian gymnast Arthur Nory Mariano competing for her heart — or at least her attention. After Efron flew down to Rio to watch Biles in action (and get that now-famous selfie), her pal jokingly fired back, “Hey @zacefron I saw her first… She is my girl. Proud of you Simone! You are phenomal [sic] in whole world and special. You made history. Love u.”
Chances are she’s not going to end up with either of these two admiring fans, but we do hope we get to see more of Biles on DWTS. As she told Us, she’s considering the offer. “I think Dancing with the Stars would be so cool! I can’t dance, but that’s what it’s for. I don’t know — we’ll be so busy, we have tour, and if that happens and I can do it, that would be amazing.” And why not? After a gold medal, we all know the next biggest challenge is a Mirrorball Trophy.
