The past few years have been a volatile time for Thomas Gibson.
Extra has obtained court documents that say Gibson filed in the summer of 2014. He and his wife, Christine, had been married for 21 years at the time. In his filing papers, he wrote, “The marriage has become insupportable because of discord or conflict of personalities… that destroys the legitimate ends of the marriage relationship and prevents any reasonable expectation of reconciliation.”
Christine responded to Gibson’s divorce filing with a “general denial,” meaning she didn’t agree with what he wrote to the courts.
It wasn’t until December of 2015 that Gibson filed a new counter position, saying that he was sticking by his original filing despite Christine’s denial. But since then, there’s been no movement on the case. The couple is fast approaching a major deadline in their divorce — if they don’t move on this by Oct. 25, their case will be automatically dismissed.
Maybe Gibson’s divorce case has fallen by the wayside because he and his lawyers are so busy dealing with his Criminal Minds firing. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gibson is in the process of deciding whether he wants to sue the show over axing him.
“I had hoped to see it through to the end, but that won’t be possible now,” he wrote in a statement soon after he was let go. “I would just like to say thank you to the writers, producers, actors, our amazing crew, and most importantly, the best fans a show could ever hope to have.”
Do you think Thomas Gibson and his wife will actually get divorced?
