Hugh Jackman scared a lot of his fans today with a picture he posted to his Instagram. Jackman went on a fishing trip recently on which he caught a huge pile of fish. He wanted to share how proud he was of the fish he caught, but instead of saying congratulations, most fans asked him what was wrong.

It’s definitely not the best picture of Jackman we’ve ever seen, that’s for sure. But he certainly doesn’t look like he’s on the brink of death either. Jackman does look exhausted but the sun’s not even up in the picture so it’s either the early morning or late at night. Most of us would look exhausted during those times.

Jackman is also currently preparing for a role in the new Wolverine movie. That role requires a lot from him physically. He could be going through a cycle of bulking up or cutting down weight so he looks the best he can for that role. Wolverine is a superhero. Jackman has to look like a superhuman.

Of course, none of this matters to some people. They’re speculating that Jackman’s skin cancer is back and worse than ever. Or as one person put it, he’s just getting old.

One comment on his Instagram said, “What happened to you x men I was shocked when I saw this photo are u good you look so tired the time had changed you i am so sorry.”

And there are over 2,700 comments just like that one.

We talk a lot about how unfair it is for people to expect perfection from female celebrities. That they constantly have to wear makeup and dress perfectly or face ridicule, but it’s obviously not just a problem for women. Most of the comments Jackman receives could be swapped out for a Kardashian photo or Kim Zolciak’s Instagram feed and it would look the same.

And all the man was trying to do was share his fishing trip with his fans. This is why we can’t have nice things.
