Andy Cohen grilled Jules Wainstein about her divorce, and it was so uncomfortable
Andy Cohen loves to use Watch What Happens Live for two things — throwing shade and digging up gossip. It’s usually lighthearted and funny, but not with Jules Wainstein. Cohen brought Real Housewives of New York stars Wainstein and Dorinda Medley on the show to get some dirt, but it was more uncomfortable than anything.
Of course Cohen brought up Wainstein’s divorce. He served up as many specific questions as he could, but Wainstein was only giving him short, two word answers. When he asked if she and her soon-to-be ex-husband were living together, she said, “That’s true.” But confirmed that they are definitely getting divorced.
When Cohen pressed for details about the alleged affair, things got so uncomfortable Wainstein had Medley answer for her. Medley confirmed that the Housewives did know the other woman, but that Wainstein was in the dark about the affair the whole time.
When Cohen asked if Wainstein ever suspected anything, Medley said about Wainstein, "We're very close. We would have had one of those late-night conversations where she's like, 'Oh my god, I think XYZ.'"
Whether it’s because of the legal battle or the heartbreaking nature of the subject, it’s obvious that Wainstein is still not ready to open up about it. She was visibly shaken by the questions and the whole topic.
It’s interesting to see what Cohen will and will not press his Housewives to answer. On reunion shows, he’s infamous for favoring some cast members enough that he’ll back down pretty quickly from a sensitive subject. But when he isn’t favoring one of the women, he’s pressing until he can get some kind of exclusive answer.
On the one hand, you know that the Housewives trust Cohen and would prefer to talk to him over anyone. But on the other hand, he should know them all better than to force them to talk about something they don’t want to discuss.
We’ll have to wait and see how he acts during the reunion special for this current show. Hopefully, Wainstein will be in a stronger place by then.
