Ben Seewald has a not-so-supportive message for Donald Trump
Anyone who knows anything about the Duggars would expect them to be backing Donald Trump in this year's presidential election. But for Ben Seewald, surprisingly, that may not be the case.
In a video posted to Instagram, Seewald takes a clear stand on politics, and his message is not exactly supportive of Trump.
"Make America great again?" he asks. "America needs something greater than the Republican Party or the Democratic Party have to offer. No man, other than the God-man, Jesus Christ, can ever make a nation truly great. No policy, other than salvation by grace through faith to undeserving sinners, can ever make a nation truly great. An organization other than the church, powered by the Holy Spirit by the grace of God, can never make a nation truly great."
He continues, "We don't need a Republican. We need a revival."
OK, so Seewald won't actually be able to elect Jesus to be president, even if he does write his name in. But what's really interesting about Seewald's speech is that he chooses to criticize Trump's campaign (Trump's slogan is "Make America great again"). He doesn't make any mention of the Democratic nominee for president, Hillary Clinton.
And that's something Seewald's followers noticed.
"Interesting. Of course, Jesus is the answer, but why is Ben speaking out against Trump? Why not Hillary?" one wrote. Another wrote, "To not vote at all is like casting one for Hilary. Trump's not perfect but he's a lot better than the alternative."
One would expect the conservative Duggars to vote Trump, but with Trump's controversial — and sometimes downright hateful — policies, maybe they're choosing to just bow out of this election.
Do you think the Duggars will support Donald Trump for president?
