The 2016 MTV VMA nominations are out and Nick Jonas is not pleased

During award season, we inevitably watch some of our favorite artists get snubbed. Artists who don’t get nominated either take pride in their work regardless of the nominations or lash out like a terrible loser.

Today we learned that Nick Jonas definitely leans more toward the sore loser category. After MTV released the nominations for the 2016 VMAs, Jonas noticed that his name was missing from all the categories and decided to let them know he wasn’t happy.

First, he tweeted a single emoji — the face with the straight lines for eyes and a mouth. You know, the one you send when you don’t have the energy to actually roll your eyes at someone for the dumb thing they did or said.

But that wasn’t enough to convey his feelings. So Jonas then tweeted, “Disappointed with the fact Close got no love for the #VMAs2016.”

Clearly, he thinks very highly of the work he put into his one music video.

He must have realized the way he looked to most people and quickly changed his tune. He said, “Actually after thinking about it more there are so many amazing things happening in my life and career. 9 out of 10 boxes are checked…Won’t let this one thing get to me. I’m feeling so inspired and grateful these days. Gonna focus more on caring less about the small stuff.”

Finally, he concluded his rant by saying, “Everything is awesome!”

Just to give you some perspective, Beyoncé, the woman who released back-to-back visual albums, was nominated 11 times for Lemonade. Kanye West, love him or hate him, created full art pieces for his music videos to earn his nominations.

This was the kind of competition that Jonas was up against. But he’s mad because his video didn’t make the cut.

I’m not saying Jonas didn’t create a good music video. Just that if he wants to be noticed next to greats, he should do the great things they’re doing for his own music.

Complaining about MTV on Twitter is probably never going to get you the result you want. Just ask Jenelle Evans.
