It’s real this time. After years of speculation and rumors, Joshua Jackson and Diane Kruger have confirmed that they are separating. Their reps said that the couple will remain friends, but that this is the end of their romantic relationship. They didn’t have any kids together, which, unfortunately, might have been a big reason for the split.
Last night, Kruger posted a cryptic Jimi Hendrix quote to her Instagram. The photo didn’t come with a caption, but read, “…the story of life is quicker than the wink of an eye. The story of love is hello and good-bye until we meet again.” She didn’t give context, but it’s obvious that the post had to do with the current state of her relationship.
It was only a few months ago that Kruger moved to New York City to be closer to Jackson. He’s been acting on Broadway and she made the leap from Los Angeles to be with him. Kruger told The Edit back in May that the move was a major decision for her. She said, “That’s a big step into adulthood for me, to allow that time for someone else out of my time.”
When asked by the magazine whether or not this move meant it was time for the couple to get married and start a family, she said, “Welcome to my dilemma!”
It’s obvious that they loved each other but had personal obstacles that kept them both from committing to the idea of forever. And if you believe Kruger’s Instagram post, she thinks that’s OK — that sometimes, we’re only meant to have some loves for a period of time and then we have to let them go.
It’s really sad to see that the two have ended their relationship, but it seems like they’re both handling it with maturity and respect. All we can hope for is that it doesn’t get messy and that both Jackson and Kruger find the happiness they’re looking for.
