Taylor Swift & Tom Hiddleston's relationship is so meta... and possibly a trick
Guys, there's something massive happening in the universe right now. No, it's not Juno orbiting Jupiter after a five-year voyage. It's much bigger than that. I'm talking about Hiddleswift.
Taylor Swift has always seemed to love being in love. It's endearing, really. Of course, there have always been naysayers who think she moves too quickly through too many relationships. Personally, I don't see anything wrong with enjoying the feeling of being smitten with another human being. So, on that front, rock on, Taylor.
I'll be the first to say that I was slightly upset when news broke recently that she and Calvin Harris had called it quits after a pretty adorable romance. Admittedly, I raised a skeptical eyebrow when it became news that she was jumping pretty quickly into a serious relationship with actor Tom Hiddleston. Any doubt surrounding their love affair was quickly stifled when numerous photos of the pair started popping up and the PDA seemed like something out of a Nicholas Sparks novel. It seems like this couple is falling in love at warp speed, and suddenly the vibe has gotten really intense. All of sudden, their relationship stopped being purely precious and started to become... suspicious.
That's right, it's suspicious. I think we can all agree that when someone wears a shirt that says “I love TS” and draws a heart with a T in it on their arm, one of two things is happening: either they have lost their damn mind or something shady is going on. Hiddleston did that. He was photographed recently doing exactly that.
Buzzfeed first reported the conspiracy theories that have begun to swirl on Twitter around this over-the-top show of PDA. Fans are beginning to suspect that this whole relationship is being orchestrated and shot for a music video or album. Honestly, it makes a lot of sense. I completely buy into this. After all, Beyoncé just proved with Lemonade that visual albums are everything. Why wouldn't artists follow this example? It's really only a matter of time before it's the norm in music. Doesn't it kind of make sense that all of the theatrical kissing, cuddling and canoodling really belong in a music video? it's really becoming harder to believe that this is a real relationship. The “I heart TS” getup really sealed this theory for me.
If it's not a music video, maybe it is a commentary on how obsessed society and the media are with Swift's romantic relationships. How amazing would that be? We all can't get enough of this, and she would just be proving to us how ridiculous the fascination is. It's so meta.
Swift is definitely due for an album soon; 1989 is coming up on its two-year release anniversary. Doing this visual album as a premiere or a PR move would be pretty genius. All eyes are on this couple. If she ends up punking all of us, I will forever be impressed.
If it turns out that this is just two people being super in love and wearing their cheesiness on their sleeves, then good on them. I just think there's something big brewing underneath the surface and we may all be in for an epic piece of performance art.
Do you think this is possibly one big fake-out, or is Hiddleswift the real deal? Let us know in the comments!
