The drama that blew up when Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna got engaged was surprising. Most of the time, the Kardashians are a united front that no rumors can penetrate. But the engagement surprised the sisters so much that they didn’t have a chance to get on the same page. It meant no one publicly congratulated the couple for a very long time. It was pretty awkward.
I was interested to see tonight’s episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians because it would tell their side of the story. When big drama hits, it isn’t until the new season of KUWTK airs that the Kardashian sisters tell their side. It’s an amazing strategy that’s probably helped their show go on for so long — and kept them out of trouble.
Tonight, I was hoping that they’d show some behind-the-scenes conversations that would make everyone’s behavior make sense.
Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case.
Rob sat down with Kim, Kourtney and Khloé to talk about his engagement and the pregnancy, and all he got were very unenthusiastic congratulations. No hugs, no squeals, not even a smile from anyone but Kourtney.
Everyone is entitled to handle their surprise differently, but what was disappointing is that the sisters couldn’t show their brother their support at all. The Kardashians constantly preach family first and that family is all that matters, but when put into a perfect opportunity to show that, they failed miserably.
It took Kylie, the youngest of all the kids, to step up as the mature one and show her older sisters it’s time to get over their feelings. I don’t know if that’s going to be enough to make Khloé change her attitude. So far, it hasn’t been enough.
As a fan, I hope that she’ll get over it soon because she and Rob were the funniest duo on the show. I’d like to have them back to normal by the wedding special that’s surely coming.
