Maybe the third time’s the charm?
Dennis Quaid and his wife, Kimberly Quaid, have once again filed for divorce, TMZ reports. It’s the third time they’ve actually started divorce proceedings during their 12-year marriage, though they have yet to complete the process.
Dennis released a statement to the site, saying, “After careful consideration, Kimberly and I have decided to end our 12-year marriage. The decision was made amicably and with mutual respect toward one another. We will always remain great friends and devoted partners in raising our children.”
Kimberly was the first of the couple to file for divorce, all the way back in March of 2012. She claimed at the time that the marriage had become “insupportable because of discord or conflict of personalities.” Less than a month later, she withdrew her petition for divorce.
Then, in November of that same year, it was Dennis who began divorce proceedings, but, like the first time, he and Kimberly quickly reconciled and never went through with the split. This time, Dennis has admitted to media outlets that it was Kimberly who made the filing, but he insists they made the decision together to end their marriage.
In both of their previous divorce filings, both Dennis and Kimberly filed for sole custody of their children, twins Thomas and Zoe. This time, they’ve asked the courts for equal custody. Sources close to the family say they’ve also decided to split their assets, according to the Daily Mail.
Kimberly is Dennis’ third wife; he was previously married to actresses P.J. Soles from 1978 to 1983, and Meg Ryan from 1991 to 2001.
