Modern Family's Ariel Winter's graduation was way different than Alex Dunphy's
Ariel Winter had an incredible high school graduation weekend — proving once again that she couldn't be more different than her Modern Family alter ego, Alex Dunphy.
Winter shared a snap from her luxe-looking graduation party, thrown by her sister Shanelle Gray and her husband.
"Couldn't be more grateful to @shanelle_gray & @davidbarrygray for throwing me the most amazing graduation party ever last night," she wrote on Instagram. "The amount of love and support they've shown me for the past four years has been life changing. My sister is my absolute best friend and my everything... Thank you so much. I couldn't be luckier or more grateful." OK, Alex and Hayley Dunphy are always there for each other in the end, but we can't quite see either of the catfighting sisters writing such a sentimental post.
For comparison's sake, on the Modern Family episode when Alex graduated, her entire bumbling family struggled to meet up to celebrate while her mother got emotional over the children's growing up. Eventually, of course, there was a party — but it was a little different than the gold-tinged, formal affair that Winter's sister threw for her. Girl knows how to get down, and we love that about her.
One commonality between the two: Winter is headed to UCLA, while her character has been studying at the equally great California university Caltech. That's quite an achievement, for both her real and fictitious sides.
