Did Liam Hemsworth just say Miley Cyrus comes with baggage?
After making it perfectly clear that they weren't going to publish a tell-all about their on-off relationship anytime soon, Liam Hemsworth spoke about Miley Cyrus in an interview with Men's Fitness. It sounds like he accepts everything about the singer/actress — the good, bad and the baggage.
Because he's Liam Hemsworth, the Hunger Games actor didn't go as far as actually admitting that he and Cyrus are engaged or even together, but if you read between the lines, you can tell that they are still a very special part of each other's lives. Let's remember, they've been together on and off for seven years and were even engaged for a year before calling it quits in 2013. They've recently been spotted hanging out again in Australia, and Cyrus was even wearing that same engagement ring on that finger.
Here's what Hemsworth had to say about his past experiences with giving away too much in interviews, which could double as his opinion on Cyrus and her past relationship with the media: "When you get thrown into this industry at a young age, you're gonna say some stupid shit. Absolutely. It's impossible not to. Everyone does it. But you learn from it, and you learn from it quickly. You become a lot more mindful of what you say and how you say it."
And then, whether he wanted to or not, Hemsworth said something about Cyrus that makes us think these two are in it for the long haul: "You fall in love with who you fall in love with; you can never choose. I guess some people just come with a little more baggage. I mean, look — we were together five years, so I don't think those feelings will ever change. And that's a good thing because that proves to me that it was real. It wasn't just a fling. It really was an important part of my life and always will be."
Rather than knock Hemsworth for implying, without saying outright, that Cyrus has baggage, we can consider his honest appraisal of the Hannah Montana star and their relationship a sign that he has seen her at her worst and is sticking around. He's very well aware of who she is, respects her and isn't trying to change her. Their break from each other may have been the best thing to happen to both of them. Perhaps it forced them both to grow up a little and value what they have together.
I'll give it to Hemsworth, though: He's still using vague enough language in this interview to make us wonder what, exactly, is happening between them. They're either casually dating, about to be married, secretly married already or best buddies. Your guess is as good as any.
