Taylor Swift pulled off one of her epic Swiftie surprises at a wedding
Taylor Swift pulled off one of her epic Swiftie surprises this weekend. She showed up to the wedding of longtime fan Max Singer and his new wife, Kenya Smith.
Unlike the wedding in her 2010 song "Speak Now," Swift was invited to this white veil occasion! She worked with the groom's sister over the past couple months to coordinate the surprise.
Singer's sister Ali reached out to Swift back in April about the death of her and Max's mother in an emotional letter. She also told the "New Romantics" singer how her brother had wed his wife in the hospital, so their mother wouldn't miss out on one of the biggest days of her son's life. Swift was touched by the letter and journeyed to the Brant Beach Yacht Club in Brant Beach, New Jersey, for the special ceremony on Saturday.
The couple's friends and family shared photos and videos of Swift performing her hit "Blank Space" at the wedding and posing with the newlyweds. Plus, many attendees even got to take selfies with her!
We've got to admit, "Blank Space" is a bit of an odd choice for a wedding song, but the track had special meaning to the couple. Singer and his late mother shared their mother and son dance to the hit before she passed away.
"Alright, I want to talk about the fact that when I wrote this song, I never in my life imagined I would be asked to play it at a wedding," Swift confessed during her performance. "I just want to make that clear, but what Max and Kenya want, they get."
Swift posted two photos from the event on Instagram, including the picture below with the caption, "Third wheel."
She also gave the couple a hand-painted gift with her lyrics, "So it's gonna be forever," from "Blank Space" written on it.
After going through a highly publicized breakup just last week, we're glad Swift returned to her gifting ways this weekend to bring a bit of magic to this couple's special day and celebration of love.
