Whoa, Tommen just got some serious balls on Game of Thrones

The tables are turning once again on Game of Thrones, but it finally seems like maybe things are heading in a hopeful direction. (Knock on wood…)

More: Hodor, Daenerys and Arya’s GoTstorylines have me ready to pull my hair out

I always thought that Tommen was doomed on the show. His manner is too gentle to survive the wiles of King’s Landing, even with his mother at his side.

But tonight, he made his first stand as king, and you have to give him credit for making a valiant move, even though it was pretty stupid.

I definitely don’t think he has a chance of living to the end of the series, much less the end of this season, but you’ve gotta give the boy props for coming out of nowhere with some backbone. It’s too bad his odds are so slim of keeping the Iron Throne because I really think he has virtuous intentions. He really does think that by allying with the High Sparrow he has a chance to make the Seven Kingdoms strong.

Let’s be real here, though, the High Sparrow is just going to manipulate the shit out of him. He’s too vulnerable and young. Unless this is the first sign of Tommen learning to play the game. Plus, Margaery is clearly a political animal and, since she has a vested interested in keeping Tommen alive, they might just grow to make a formidable pair.

More: Who needs dragons when GoT‘s Daenerys is such a badass all on her own?

I sure hope so since their characters have really grown on me.

Unfortunately, since we know at some point in the series Daenerys is going to be striking Westeros with her dragons, I’m going to go ahead and say that Tommen is already on borrowed time. Plus, it was prophesied that all of Cersei’s children would die.

Also, exiling Jaime Lannister? Not so smart.

All the noble ones go quickly in this show, as we first saw way back when with Ned Stark. Which means you probably shouldn’t get too cozy with valiant Sam either. Even though watching him steal his father’s sword was extremely delightful. And even though I’m hoping Arya stabs Jaqen H’ghar’s right hand lady friend right where it counts, I’m not so sure who’s going to win in that fight. Arya did, after all, spend months getting the living daylights beat out of her by that same lady.

Not to be a Debbie downer here, but the show has definitely taught me that when it giveth, it taketh. And taketh quickly and harshly.

More: Natalie Dormer doesn’t think Game of Thrones is revolutionary for women

Since this was an episode full of good things happening, I can’t help but think a fan favorite is going to die — badly and soon.

Do you think Tommen will be the next to die on Game of Thrones?
