Johnny Depp reportedly abused Amber Heard days before divorce
As more details of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard's divorce emerge, one thing is becoming clear: The actress was scared for her life, and the reported violent episodes that took place in their relationship are more frightening and shocking than you can imagine.
Heard filed for divorce on Monday, two days after she told police Depp physically abused her and caused injuries that include a black eye, according to People magazine. Heard claims she was having a conversation with two friends on that day when Depp entered their Los Angeles apartment. The friends then reportedly brought up the recent death of Depp's mother, and he "began obsessing about something that was untrue" and became "extremely angry."
Heard says she tried to make the situation better by calling a friend with whom Depp wanted to speak, but that his reaction was extremely abusive.
"Johnny ripped the cell phone from my hand and began screaming profanities and insults at iO [the friend]," Heard said. "I heard iO yell at me to get out of the house. Johnny then grabbed the cell phone, wound up his arm like a baseball pitcher and threw the cellphone at me, striking my cheek and eye with great force."
Heard says she began to cry and Depp "charged" at her and "taunted" her by asking if the phone really hit her. And the abuse reportedly continued:
"He then forcibly pulled back my hair as I attempted to stand up from the sofa," she said. "I then yelled, 'Call 911!' — hoping it would be heard by iO who was still on the phone. Johnny continued screaming at me, pulling my hair, striking me and violently grabbing my face."
After the physical abuse, Depp reportedly ran out of their apartment, "smashing everything he could with a wine bottle" after the friend entered their home. The friend allegedly told police Depp slapped her hands and screamed foul obscenities at her when she tried to defend Heard.
When the Los Angeles Police Department arrived at their home, they didn't find evidence of a crime, though Heard submitted photos of damage in their apartment. Heard filed for a restraining order, which was granted to her on Friday. Depp is currently in Europe, but has been ordered to stay 100 yards away from his estranged wife. Heard has been granted exclusive use of their apartment, but Depp has not been ordered to pay spousal support yet.
Heard claims she has endured physical and verbal abuse throughout the 15 months of their marriage. Although Depp has not made a statement about their divorce, his attorneys sure did: "Amber is attempting to secure a premature financial resolution by alleging abuse," the court documents state. Let's hope Heard, Depp and their representatives can quickly dissolve this marriage.
