I regret my knee-jerk dislike of RHOBH's Kathryn Edwards

When Kathryn Edwards first joined The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, I was convinced that she was bound to be the show's next big villain. She just didn't seem very likable, in part because of her tagline ("Don't hate the game, just marry a player") but mainly because she came across as snooty and judgmental. Granted, these are common characteristics on RHOBH, but Edwards initially seemed to take these qualities to a disturbing new level.

Clearly, when I labeled Edwards the show's new villain, I had no idea what I was talking about. Like every Housewife, Edwards can be unlikable at times, but on the whole, she's not that bad. In fact, sometimes, she's downright charming. Tonight was a prime example of this, for, instead of slinging mud, she decided to show a little compassion for a fellow Housewife who has been through a lot. Granted, her empathy for Kim Richards could be viewed as another example of trying to make every situation all about her, but that's not how this particular exchange came across. Rather, Edwards seemed to be lending Richards the support she so desperately needs while still allowing the former RHOBH regular to speak for herself.

I am by no means the only RHOBH viewer to regret my earlier appraisal of Edwards. Several Twitter users have also made their opinion known — and many are way more impressed by Edwards after tonight's reunion episode. A few even claimed that, in a few short weeks, Edwards has gone from least favorite to the most likable of the Beverly Hills Housewives. Yes, this feat is easy to accomplish when you avoid talking excessively about Munchausen syndrome, but apparently, such restraint is impossible for most of the Housewives.
It's hard to say if Edwards will be back for another season, but RHOBH can always use a (somewhat) level head. If Edwards returns for a second stint on the show, she will likely be welcomed with open arms by appreciative viewers and a surprisingly appreciative cast.
